Troop #1157 was formed as a Brownie Troop in 1997. The troop consisted of our leader Mrs. Rich and 16 girls from 9 different elementary schools. Throughout the troop's 8 year existence every member has strived to live by the ideals of Girl Scouting through their meetings, camping, badge work, community service projects, and, of course, cookie sales.

Today Troop #1157 is comprised of 8 members. Two girls, Taylor and Mimi, are in high school, while the remaining 6, Christina, Danielle, Hannah, Kelly, Lauren and Shay are in their last year of middle school. Mrs. Copeland, Lauren's mom, has been our co-leader for the last 5 years.

Our leader, Marion Rich, has been involved in Girl Scouting for 20 years. Mrs. Rich has also been active in the Tampa Bay community as a volunteer for the last 15 years. She has helped raise over $1,000,000 for various non-profit agencies including the Junior League, Big Brothers Big Sisters, the Morton Plant Mease Hospital Foundation, the American Cancer Society, the American Heart Association, the Dunedin Fine Art Center, the Film Foundation of Tampa Bay, and last , but not least, the Girl Scouts of Suncoast Council. She currently is Board Chairman for 2-1-1 Tampa Bay Cares (the county helpline and volunteer center), the Vice President of Fund Development for Big Brothers Big Sisters, and nominating chairman for the Junior League Sustainers. She was recently elected to the Nominating Committee of the Girl Scouts of Suncoast Council. Mrs. Rich recently completed her fifth year as chairman of a very popular and profitable breast cancer luncheon. She is a proud member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Mrs. Rich has been our troop leader for 8 years.

Mrs. Rich has been honored as Clearwater's Ms. Clearwater for her contribution to the community, and by the Girl Scouts as a Woman of Distinction.

For the past 13 years Mrs. Rich has taught public speaking and communication courses at St. Petersburg College.
